FAQs

  • How quickly do you see results following a lymphatic drainage session?

Results are noticeable after one session, however for detoxifying we recommend at least once a month.

What should I avoid after lymphatic drainage?

    After your massage

-Drink plenty of water. Massages can be dehydrating, so it is best to replenish your body with water.

-Wear loose clothing. Wearing loose clothing after a lymphatic massage can help promote lymph flow.

-Be careful what you consume. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours and avoid caffeinated drinks.

What not to do before a lymphatic drainage massage?

Please do not apply oil or lotion before your treatment. Empty your bladder right before your treatment begins. The goal of a manual lymphatic massage is to encourage the lymphatic system to work more efficiently and move stagnated fluid. This process will cause fluid to find its way to your bladder.

Do you wear clothes for a lymphatic massage?

Arrive at your appointment well hydrated. Dehydration will severely impair your ability to detoxify and rebuild and may make you feel ill. Expect to undress to your level of comfort but know that direct contact with the skin is always best. Tight clothing and underwear will make it difficult to get lymph moving

  • How Do I Prepare For A Colonic?

    The following measures will increase the benefits of your treatment;

Foods to eliminate from the diet 3 days prior to your colonic treatment:

*All drinks containing caffeine, including coffee, tea and fizzy drinks. If in doubt, just drink plain water/herbal teas/fresh vegetable juices

    *Alcohol

*All dairy products, including milk, butter, yogurt, cheese and cream.

    *Animal protein: red meat

*Anything made with wheat and white sugar: bread, pasta, cereals, biscuits, cakes etc

    *Fried foods

    *Anything processed

    *Avoid eating late at night

    *Chew your food thoroughly .

For your own comfort you should avoid a heavy meal or drinking a lot immediately before your appointment. Try to drink at least 2-3 litres of water per day.

    Is It Safe?

The procedure is perfectly safe. All equipment is either disposable or sterilised using solutions that are hospital approved and kill viruses, bacteria and fungi. The filtered water is introduced at low gravitational pressure so there is no danger of bowel perforation. Laura has over 8 years experience offering colonics and has been trained to the highest professional standard by Anne-lise Miller Director of the IPCH (institute of professional colon hydrotherapy). Anne-lise was also Honorary Secretary to the Colonic International Association (now ARCH) for over five years.

What Does A Colonic Feel Like?

Most people find the procedure to be quite relaxing, with no discomfort. The colon fills and empties regularly as part of its normal function, so the treatment is nothing new. You may feel varying sensations of fullness and movement in your abdomen throughout the treatment.

Can I Have A Colonic Treatment If I Am Having A Period?

Yes. If you are comfortable wear a tampon.

Can I Have The Treatment If I Am Pregnant?

There is no evidence that a colonic treatment will interfere with pregnancy however, as a precaution we always say no.

    Is There Any Mess?

Modern colon hydrotherapy equipment forms a sealed system that carries away all the waste cleanly and hygienically.

    Is it Embarrassing?

Not at all. Your therapy will take place in a private treatment room by a trained therapist who understands the sensitivity of the procedure. It is perfectly normal to be a little embarrassed, but your therapist will completely understand and will try to put you at your ease. Once the tube has been inserted, you’ll remain covered for the rest of the treatment.

    What Can I Expect Afterwards?

Generally speaking as soon as your treatment is completed you can carry on with your normal routine. You may experience an increase in bowel movements over the first few hours, to eliminate any remaining water or waste. This is perfectly normal and shouldn’t involve any undue urgency or discomfort. After that you may find that you don’t need to go to the toilet for a while, perhaps as long as a few days, as your bowels have been emptied.
